Overview

Role
The role of assistant buyer is to assist the buyer to procure all materials for the best possible price, in accordance with the contract specification & delivered to comply with the site programme
Analyse current supply chain price agreements & site orders lists & obtain competitive prices where agreed prices are not available to enable orders to be placed
Compare suppliers’ quotes & analyse prices against tender allowances
Research product information & alternative products
Liaise with MJL staff to order materials as requested via phone & email
Liaise with suppliers & advise site staff of delivery dates for orders
Update site orders where necessary to avoid invoice queries
File & organise emails to ensure that historic information is available as required
Maintain MJL stock list & aim to use materials on other sites where cost effective to do so
Assist the accounts department to resolve & avoid invoice queries
Hours of work
Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

MJL are looking to engage a trainee Health & Safety Assistant to join our busy
Health and Safety Team. Ideally you will have training or qualifications in
Health and Safety but this is not essential. MJL are looking for the right person
with a good attitude and a willingness to learn and develop. Experience in
Construction is however essential for the role.
You will be assisting with:
• Safety inspections and audits. Also ensuring risk assessments are
suitable and sufficient, and employees are aware of their duties and
responsibilities
• Site safety briefings and toolbox talks
• Formulating site start up documentation which will be submitted to
Clients
• The maintenance and management of health and safety polices, safety
training and document control systems to the ISO 45001 standard
• Maintaining, updating and creating standard operating procedures and
assisting in the implementation of continuous improvement strategies
• Completing regular reviews of risk assessments for site operations
• Ensuring that all accidents are documented, investigated and
recommended improvements are implemented
MJL will provide training to the successful candidate to improve and progress
their skill set.
